DP-600 Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate

600 DP-600 practice test questions with explanations that teach the concept, not the answer. Covers Direct Lake, DAX, KQL and T-SQL. 70% to pass.

A 600-question DP-600 practice exam covering all three skill areas, written against the July 2026 objectives. Every explanation teaches the concept rather than pointing at the answer.

DP-600 is Microsoft's Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate exam, published as Implementing Analytics Solutions Using Microsoft Fabric. It measures whether you can build and maintain an analytics solution on Microsoft Fabric end to end: preparing data in a lakehouse or a warehouse, shaping it into a model people can report on, and keeping that solution secure, governed and fast. This practice exam carries 600 questions written against the skills measured as revised on 21 July 2026.

What is covered:

  1. Maintain a data analytics solution - 162 questions. Workspace roles and item permissions, row, column and object-level security, OneLake data access roles, sensitivity labels and endorsement, version control with Git and the project file format, deployment pipelines, impact analysis and the XMLA endpoint.
  2. Prepare data - 276 questions. OneLake, lakehouses, warehouses and shortcuts. Ingestion with pipelines, dataflows and notebooks. Star schema design, slowly changing dimensions, cleansing, merging and profiling in Power Query. Querying across T-SQL, KQL and DAX, and the Visual Query editor.
  3. Implement and manage semantic models - 162 questions. Storage mode choice including both Direct Lake options, relationships and cardinality, measures, calculation groups, dynamic format strings and field parameters, composite models, incremental refresh, and performance work from Performance Analyzer down to encoding.

Written as a modeling exam, not a report building exam:

The commonest way to prepare badly for DP-600 is to revise Power BI report authoring. Visual design barely appears. What the exam asks is which storage mode a table should use, where a security rule belongs, why a relationship behaves differently across source groups, and what a refresh actually does. It is an engineering paper about the layer underneath the report, and it expects you to be comfortable reading T-SQL, KQL and DAX in the same sitting.

Explanations that teach the topic:

Every explanation states the ruling idea, says why each other option fails, and closes with a boundary condition worth knowing. None of them restates the option you were supposed to pick, because an explanation that hands back the answer teaches nothing. That holds on every one of the 600, not on most of them.

Questions that put code in front of you:

39 questions carry a real snippet: DAX expressions and query-scoped measures, Power Query filter expressions for incremental refresh, T-SQL for warehouse loading and tuning, model scripting for fallback behavior, and PowerShell for storage format conversion. They are there because the exam mixes three query languages and reading them under time pressure is a skill of its own.

Exam Coach AI, besides every question:

Exam Coach AI sits next to the question you are on and explains the concept behind it. Ask what Direct Lake is, how framing differs from a refresh, or when a lakehouse beats a warehouse, and it will take the idea apart for you. It will not tell you which option to choose, and it will say it does not know rather than invent something.

DP-600 or DP-700:

The two Fabric exams share a platform and split the job. DP-700, Fabric Data Engineer, is the ingestion and orchestration side: pipelines, streaming, notebooks and getting data into OneLake reliably. DP-600 picks up where that finishes, turning prepared data into a governed semantic model people can report on. OneLake, lakehouses, warehouses, KQL and deployment pipelines appear in both, so whichever you sit second, a good part of the platform ground is already covered.

How it is marked:

You pass at 70% of the questions you answer correctly. There is no scaled score to interpret: the result is the plain percentage, broken down per skill area so you can see which of the three is holding you back. Each sitting draws 60 questions from the pool of 600, so you can sit it repeatedly without learning the order.

Free preview:

DP-600 practice test 40 questions are free to try before you buy, spread across all three skill areas - 11 on maintaining a solution, 18 on preparing data and 11 on semantic models - so the preview reflects the real weighting rather than the easiest corner of the bank.
